Audio Horror

Welcome to the page for our all audio horror podcast Yarns From the Bog. This is where we routinely upload all new and all original audio horror, psychological thriller, and other strange, dark stories. These stories are written, performed, and produced by Bill Mullane, co-creator at A Brothers’ Mullane (ABM), unless otherwise noted (for now).

As you will see, creating quality tales that disturb your psyche and challenge your traditions is our deepest, truest passion. This passion is reflective not of a love for blood and gore per se, but of a deeply complex, cozy, and familiar relationship with the macabre. As horror writers and performers, it is our job to go into the dark, dismal corners of creation, and summon to the surface, all of your fears and phobias for you to face. This is our service, our duty...

While the primary focus of this website is to promote my writing and get my novel, “Snowdrifter” completed and out into the world, I have no interest in foregoing the creation of more original audio horror stories. New episodes are released every Saturday (or every other Saturday) on our podcast channel on YouTube @YarnsFromtheBog and, of course, right here! Thanks for listening, and…

Welcome to the Bog!

"A Thanksgiving Day Horror"

Teddy's mother has never approved of his lifestyle, not least of which includes his marriage to the love of his life, Darren. This Thanksgiving, however, Teddy is enlisting the help of his brother, a wandering wook who calls himself "Prometheus," to open their mother's mind and get her to see the err of her heartless ways. But when Prometheus brings an unexpected guest, it becomes apparent that, perhaps not everyone at the dinner table has the same motives...

"Your Day-to-Day Murders With Rip Larson"

Rodney works long hours and looks forward to getting home, putting his feet up with a cold drink, and watching the popular TV show, "Your Day-to-Day Murders With Rip Larson." Rodney is a good man who loves his girlfriend, Georgia and just wants a peaceful life. Unfortunately for him, Rodney lives in an alternate reality, one in which those seeking peace are a direct threat.

"Snowdrifter" (excerpt from Part One: Cops and Robbers)

Bill Mullane, Co-Creator of YFTB and author of multiple short horror stories, reads a short excerpt from his debut novel, "Snowdrifter." The excerpt is taken from "Part One: Cops and Robbers," in which we meet Silas Kane during a peculiar childhood memory, an incident that showed him the way of Mr. Hammy...

“The Stork”

Happy Halloween, children... Now that you have come of a certain age, you are prepared to hear this tale. 'Tis the tale of our people, and gratitude will be given one way or another...

“The Pumpkin Farm”

Doug loves two things, his occultist-centered bookstore "Leaflets Three" and the one holiday that pretty much keeps him in business, Halloween. And tonight, upon a trip with his daughter to the haunted hay maze, he will show us exactly how far he is willing to go to keep the spirit alive...

“Ugly Bug”

Cliff was a young man when he took a simple overnight job at the Flying Jays gas station in Kansas. Born and raised in a small mid-western town, Cliff thought he was prepared for anything the woods could throw at him. That is, until he came across one especially grotesque little creature with a peculiar allure...

“Parsec Award Winner”

Whoever said that being crowned the winner of the annual audio drama awards would be fulfilling has not met Matthew Van Borough. As the recipient of this year's Parsec award, Matthew should be celebrating. And in one way or another, he will...

“Football Season”

Phil and Chuck have been life long friends and, even more than that, die-hard fans of the Buffalo Bills. This year, Phil is convinced the Bills are on a road to destiny. And following an unexpected visit from the ghost of O.J. Simpson, he is set to make damn sure he supports his team, no matter what it takes!

“Something Dead This Way Walks”

In our one and only tale for the Season 2 opener, we learn that YFTB serves as much more than just another creepy story podcast. To be honest, we find out that we really don’t know whether the creator and host of this specific podcast even has what it takes to last in the audio business. It seems as though he might be struggling with something more pressing at the moment... Something sinister… Or as he would say, "Something dead."

“McKinely Manor”

Rob and his 13-year-old daughter Claire love Halloween, and this year, after the father wins tickets to the famous haunted McKinely Manor, where the “actors” can reportedly “torture” the guests, the pair is stoked for the challenge. The only problem now will be finding their way out alive...

“Affirmations”

Listening to positive affirmations while you sleep is said to reprogram your subconscious, thus improving your outlook on life and eventually the whole world around you. Sounds amazing, so long as you are aware of exactly what it is that your affirmations are really saying at night...

“Elias”

Meditation is an amazing practice that, when developed correctly, can help you in all aspects of your life. Mindfulness has been known to improve health, focus, and in some cases, even lead people into channeling higher beings. It is for the latter, specifically, that this story serves to warn anyone who might attempt such methods of contact... Be careful who you're talking to!

“Not Funny, Ha-Ha”

Jerome has a little trouble with some of his office coworkers, especially Aaron. Needing to blow off a little steam, he figures no harm can come from playing a little practical joke at the upcoming potluck. Practical jokes are innocent enough… Right?

“The Accident Writer”

To his parents’ utter disappointment, Alex Zimmer failed to become a lawyer. Instead, he chose to chase his dreams of being a famous romance writer, selling his novels worldwide. But after landing a job reporting on personal injury accidents for a local law firm, his dreams officially melt into his nightmares, and now, Alex is determined to make his folks proud, no matter what the cost…

“My Neighbors Like it Cold”

In our first story, we meet Derek, a man currently serving time in Attica Correctional Facility. Derek’s been locked away, and probably for good reason, but as he tells us, all of his problems started with what should have been a nice move into a cozy rural duplex. Things turned sinister, however, when he met his elderly neighbors, a deceptively sweet religious couple, who like to be “prepared…”

“Nickel-Wound”

This tale introduces us to Dustin, a struggling musician who can’t seem to impress anyone with his songs. After his latest performance, Dustin’s girlfriend and family tell him to hang it up, but when he finds a glowing talisman in the woods, he is granted inspiration. With nothing left to lose, Dustin makes one desperate wish, a wish he soon regrets…
